Life is busy

Category: Journal

It's amazing how busy life can get with 2 little ones instead of just one.  Everything is harder – especially running errands.  Getting 2 kids in and out of the car and holding onto Tristan so he can't run away is a challenge.  Thankfully,  I've had tons of help and support from everyone!

Tristan has been tons of fun lately – it's great seeing him develop his sense of humor more and more all the time.  However, he has also been showing his age (he'll be 2 in a few months) and has been testing and testing and not always listening.  He can be frustrating, and it can sure be hard to discipline your kids and watch them cry, but you gotta do what you gotta do to do the best for them that you can.  I love him so much the way he runs and runs around.  Here he is having a treat and playing in some water in his batman PJ's.  We just can't seem to keep him out of water – he has so much fun in it!

Rhys has been a model baby.  He sleeps so well – I have been very lucky to be getting at least one 6 or 7 hour stretch out of him every night since he's been a week old, so I am not nearly as sleep deprived as I expected to be at this point.  Hopefully this is something he continues and builds on in the upcoming weeks.  During the day he's really good too – rarely cries, and only if he's hungry.  Even when he cries he's pretty quiet.  I think he's going to have a calmer personality than his older brother, but I guess only time will tell.

So while I've been busy running after the kids, Troy has been working (of course) and doing lots of projects too.  Our boys are going to have one of the coolest playhouses around once it's done! Also, we are waiting on getting the next phase of our deck done – Troy's done all he can until the weatherdecking goes on.  Unfortunately the company is way behind schedule due to weather.

We've been spending lots of time with family this past month both because of Rhys and because of birthdays.  I've been going over to my parents a lot so Tristan and Annika can play.  Tomorrow Dave is coming into town and my Dad, Dave and Annika are coming over to play outside.  We were at Mom and Dad Mack's Wednesday night for family dinner – was really nice to be there with our whole new little family.  Me and my boys.  We even got a chance to go over to some friends one day last weekend.  Tristan played nd played all evening until we went home.  It was great fun to watch him, although going to bed late was hard on him the next day.

I wanted to post some pics of my family with Rhys and of Troy and Rhys.  It seems I get a lot more pics taken of me than I take!

1 week old

Category: Journal

Well it's been quite the week around here. Tristan is starting to adjust to Rhys being around, but definitly needs some extra cuddles and tlc.  Rhys is doing well – slowly working his way back up to his birth weight and looking less yellow from jaundice every day.  Troy and I are tired, but happy to have our little family all together and starting to function properly.  We spent the long weekend just being together and trying to get into a routine.  Where Tristan was concerned, we didn't do too well for routine – bedtime and naptime are pretty much shot right now.  But we're slowly getting back there.  Tomorrow Daralynn and Annika are coming from Edmonton – I am so excited to see them!  Especially for Tristan and Annika to play together – it's so good for both of them.  I think Dar's pretty excited to meet her newest nephew too.

Well, let's be honest, you all just want to see pictures of the kids. The ones of Rhys are pretty obvious, then there's Tristan having lunch in his lawn chair which he loves, and Tristan and Lyric having tons of fun in the bath.

Rhys and Mom are home

Category: Journal

Well the good news today is that Naomi got to come home from the hospital as she is doing so well and her blood pressure is back to normal. So now i have my whole family under one roof. Strangely the house does now feel full.

Tristan seems to be doig very well with the new addition and is very curious and when we took him home from Nana's and Papa's was very concerned that we make sure to bring the baby too. Of course when he got home things were even better when he saw the new kid couch for him with the nifty sleeping bag already sown in.

Okay so enough of the chat you guys are all really here for the pictures anyways.

Naomi was supposed to be induced today and went into the hospital and well it was just time and away she went. Here are some of the first pics with of course more to come later. Naomi and Rhys if all goes well should be home tomorrow.

Baby coming soon!

Category: Journal

Well, I've now made it to the goal – I've past 37 weeks.  The doctors have told me that judging by my body and how it seems to be ready to deliver, it's sure a good thing I've been on bed rest as I would have almost certainly delivered prematurely if not.  That being said, this baby's coming soon.

It's so much different this time than with Tristan – with him I didn't feel my body getting ready at all.  I was induced about a week early with Tristan, but I didn't feel any of the "I'm getting close" changes that I feel this time.  This baby looks as though it will probably be about 2 weeks early.

So tonight could very well be the last night that I am pregnant ever.  Weird.  I've spent 1 and a half of the last 2 and a half years pregnant and all the sudden it's almost done.  I feel very ready to not be pregnant anymore, but a little be anxious that I am going to be a mother of 2 kids under 2.  And I am starting to remember the pain of labor – knowing that I am going to be going through it again very shortly.  Luckily I had it pretty good the first time – hopefully it will be the same or shorter this time.  The doctors anticipate me having a very speedy delivery…I hope they're right!

We will keep you posted about what is going on, so check back shortly – we do expect to have the big news sometime this week.

Woohoo the weekend is here! We hope you all have a really great one. Hopefully we can all get some relaxing in. Right now Tristan is anything but relaxing as he runs circles around his rocking horse. What a strange kid.
