The Cruise is over

Category: Journal

Here we are back in New Orleans and tired and sunburned from our little cruise around the western Caribbean. We had a really great time and sometime it was a little frustrating. But more on that later. Sorry we couldn't keep you all updated but internet was really slow and super expensive on the ship so it was best to just relax. When we get back to K town we will do one big update with pics for you all.

For now it is off to find some more New Orleans cuisine. Cheers!

The french quarter

Category: Journal

Well today was the our first day in New Orleans. We spent the day in the french quarter after having a good long sleep in from traveling the day before and of course without Tristan.

We basically spent the day eating and walking around – lots of walking around. We first ate lunch at a cafe as we hadn't had any breakfast yet from sleeping in so late. Of course we had to have the good old creole cuisine red beans and rice and some really good meaty sandwich the sandwich was awesome the beans were just ok. After that it was a walk to take in all of the french quarter – the St. Louis cathderal, the French Market, the river front, some jazz and of course Bourbon street, we even found a great gallery that had body paint.  Let's not forget the beignets at Cafe du Monde and the amazing seafood at Ralph's & Kacoo's, if you are ever down here you have to go to these two places.

With all the walking around and then eating we just had to do some more walking around as it was now Nighttime and bourbon street was just getting going. I have to say bourbon street is very ummm… entertaining. It was alot of fun though and we managed to get some beads and yes i even got hustled into a shoe shin on my runners (not my brightest moment).

New Orleans is very interesting city full of flavour but very poor and run down. Much of the city is very superfiscle but we have met some really interesting and friendly people here. This is not really a city we would want to live in but it was so good to finally see it as we have always wanted to. Mark another one off the list.

4 airports, 3 flights, 1 crazy taxi ride

Category: Journal

Hello to all!  We are safe and sound in New Orleans.  It was quite the day of travel – we sure missed the food on the airplanes.  Ended up eating dinner at McDonalds at 930 at night in the Dallas airport – and we only had a few minutes between flights.  It's 1230 now and we're at the Radisson.  We are looking forward to trying out a sleep number bed.  Ooooh.

We had quite the welcome to New Orleans – a cab driver who thought we were teenagers and told us all sorts of crazy jokes about Adam and Eve.  That was when we could understand her through her thick accent and missing front teeth.

Anyhow, time for bed in preparation for our day in the French Quarter tomorrow!

It’s a ….. baby!

Category: Journal

Friday morning Troy and I got to go see our new little baby in action.  Ultrasounds are great – although they weren't able to get the good 3D shots like they were of Tristan.  It was still a lot of fun to see the little one in action – makes it so much more real.  I guess those funny feelings in my belly aren't just indigestion – there's a real little person in there doing somersaults and all sorts of kicking.  Actually, the X-ray tech told me that our baby is one of the more active she's seen.  I thought great, I already have one of those!  Of course I realize it could have just been the moment she happened to be looking.  Here's a few of the pics – she wasn't able to get any other good ones.

Tristan's doing well.  He's fun and lovable as usual.  He's got such a funny little personality.  Right now he's really into his blocks, and every time we go to put them away I look under the couches to see if we have them all.  Now his new thing is to get down and put his face right on the ground and look under everything – whether he's looking for something or not.  Instead of turning his babbling into words, he's simply getting louder.  I know my sister will ask if that's possible with Tristan – but apparently it is.  He just yells all the time.

This past weekend was really busy – we were out both Friday and Saturday night, and Sunday Troy went up to Big White while I had a baby shower for my friend Holly and her new baby Ariel here.  Friday night I stayed up later than I knew was possible for me (especially pregnant, I am a woman who greatly appreciates her sleep) getting hooked on Guitar Hero 3 at Craig and Ginny's.  I now understand why the game is in such high demand.  Best part was, I ended up being a natural and kicked Troy's butt at it.  He may not admit it, but I have witnesses – it's true!

Coming out of hiding

Category: Journal

Wow the weeks are just passing by quickly and we have been very quiet on here. Sorry guys i am not sure if it is laziness, business, or just plain being tired, but this siteblog has been poorly neglected. Unfortunatly i can't offer a really interesting excuse cept that maybe things havn't been really all that interesting around here. I havn't been taking a whole lot of pictures either but i will post what little good ones i have. Anyways i am posting now and that is all that matters.

So hmm let me see what has been happing around here. Well a few weeks back we had Naomi's sister and come for a visit before their cruise in Hawaii. I was good to see them again and we got to celebrate a late christmas with them turkey presents, stockings and all. It is always lots of fun to have more christmas. Christmas alas is all now packed away neatly… well hmmm i think my shed is still a mess — i will have to get to that. My parents as well took off for Hawaii around the same time for 2 weeks leaving their dog cosmo for us to take care of. I have to say that cosmo can be very trying at times, but Tristan just loves him so much so that makes it all worth while. Hmm what else oh yes we just got our car fixed and it is as good as new, as always i am really happy with the work Kelowna Performance Collision does and the great service they provide. It is nice to deal with a good business with good customer care as we are still waiting for our Kitchen to be finished.

On another note Tristan is growing and always learning new things. I have to say the little has always been noisy but now he is even more noisy any day i will start talking i am sure and then look out. Actually he kinda talks right now but it is his own baby babble, but he has become really good at communicating without words, and when he can he just gets upset. Slowly you can see him now more a boy than a baby and he is deffintly all boy very aggressive and loves to make dinosaur sounds.

Well here is some pics for you to enjoy as was a little hesitant to put the ones of him and a beer bottle in but they are just soo cute i couldn't resist. He just loves to clink the bottle especially when he can sit at the island and not his highchair. Oh yes one of his favourite things to do is sweep the house I have been trying to get a good picture of this but the little guy moves soo darn fast.
