CP DS Game

Category: Journal

Well I guess I should finally blog about this since it has been out for a month now. Over the past year you all I am sure know that I have been insanely busy well one reason is because of this little game.

It's called Elite Force Penguins for the DS and is basically a port of our adventure game style Missions in the on-line world. It features some other mini-games that can be played in multi-player mode and few of our mini-games from the on-line world also make their appearance.

So far the reaction from the game like our products that have been released has been absolutely incredible! The game has been on top of the carts since release only to fall slightly due to availability. It seems it has been sold out everywhere and has been on Amazon's number 1 list for almost 4 weeks now.

It has been an amazing experience to be part of all this and gets me even more excited to work on some more titles. So if you every get a chance to take a look at it or if I am around jsut ask as i finally have my own copy. Smile

Winter is Here!!

Category: Journal

So winter it seems has finally arrived here in Kelowna.this far it has been a really mild dry one but not this weekend. It pretty much snowed all weekend and now it is freezing out there with the thermometer hittting below -20  – yikes too cold for our blood. With all the snow and really bad roads we decided it would be best to remain "snowed in" at home. We just stayed inside and kept the fire going and made lots of yummy food, it was a nice calm weekend.

We did try to get the kids outside to enjoy the snow but that didn't go ever so well. Tristan did not like the wind and snow in his face nor the lack of ability to move. After fighting to get him into his snowsuit he spent 2 minutes out there and imediately said "Tintin go inside". Ah well guess we will have to wait for spring.

Getting ready for Christmas

Category: Journal

Well we're starting to feel in the Christmas spirit around here.  Last weekend we decorated our tree and hung our stockings – we even have an extra set of stockings for the wood stove downstairs.  Tristan enjoyed helping Troy set up the trains around the tree, but seeing as it was the 3rd tree he helped decorate this year, he was a little bored.  Rhys just stared at the tree.  It's a good thing he's not crawling yet or I don't think we'd be able to have a tree the way he grabs at everything.  Last week I did a bunch of Christmas baking with the help of Troy's mom and Grandmas.  It was good to do but exhausting with the kids as well.

Life is good around here.  As Rhys is sitting and playing with toys now, he and Tristan are able to relate a bit better.  All the sudden Tristan wants to play with Rhys – I can tell he thinks of him more as a brother now than as a baby.  Although he does tell me all the time "Rhys baby Tin Tin big boy".  I am starting to see how it will get easier as the boys get older.  They will be able to keep each other occupied instead of both needing my constant attention.

We've been pretty busy – I try to get Tristan out of the house most days to play groups or swimming or whatever will get his energy out.  Troy's been working pretty insane hours, so some weeks we don't see him much, but he really works hard to spend dinner with us and an hour or so afterwards.  Then he works once the kids are in bed.

This year we're going to Edmonton for Christmas.  We are flying out Christmas day, which means we are able to spend Christmas Eve with Troy's parents before going out Christmas Day to do Christmas in Edmonton with my family.  We are looking forward to staying with Daralynn and Sheldon in their new house and spending time with my whole immediate family.  Troy is flying back to Kelowna a few days after Christmas and I am staying for a couple weeks to help Dar and Sheldon with Annika and the arrival of their new baby coming early January.

Here are some pics of our boys – we know that's the whole reason some of you check our blog!

Long Awaited Post

Category: Journal

Wow i just noticed that it has almost been a month since we have posted anything on this site. Well then it more than due time we put something here then. So here it is.

Needless to say the past month has been absolutley nuts for me. Between product launches, a new language launch of the website, a new game, a new adventure quest, and many other crazy things at work. Work has pretty much been consuming me lately with crazy long days and working on most of my weekends. Fortunately Naomi and the kids have been supportive and try to give them as much time as i can, but i deffintley can't keep this pace up as i am growing increasingly weary.

One bonus though in all the work crazyness has been that i got to go a super cool trip to Texas. Why Texas you asked? Well i was invited to attend a round-table meeting of game designers from all over the world to discuss some of game design's toughest questions. I tell you it was a great honour and was an amazing experience even though most of the time i felt not that smart at all. Unfortunatley i cannot give many details as it is somewhat secretive. This much i can tell we where at a ranch facility on lake Buchanen just outside of Austin. It was beautiful and the facility was awesome my room was super nice and porch had an amazing view with a cute little rocking chair that was nice to sit in a just relax. I didn't get much time to explore but got an hour on one afternoon to enjoy the lake and sites and in evengings i spent jamming along with some of the other attendees with the instruments on site. And if that wasn't all totally cool, my boss was invited as well so i got to tag along with him in a private jet, that was just uber cool. All i can say i hope i can go next year!

Ok so one crazy part of this trip i took as discovering that i had lost my passport way back in July. I had lost it at the airport in kelowna on my last flight and the airport had found it and sent it off to passport office where it gets promptly distroyed. Yes i know nice eh? Unfortunately they never contact you to let you know so when i went to get my passport out luckly a week earlier than the trip i couldn't find it. Anyways long story short we had to make a blitz trip to Surrey to get new one, and yep i got a brand new one in one day although it cost a little bit more. One highlight of it all was we got to see our friends Alex and Hannah in Abby whom we havn't seen in a little over a year.

Hmmm let's see what else? Well it has been a crazy month of colds with the boys in this house they just seem to be getting one after the other here. I guess it is that time of year. Rhys is growing like crazy though and just this week learned to sit up by himself and boy does he love it! He does fall over from time to time and get super angry but soon i am sure he will be onto crawling. Tristan on the other hand just talks all day long, most of it we can understand and the rest well we just look at him dumb founded. Other than that everyone is doing well and happy, i just need to work less…

Tintin First Hockey Game

Category: Journal

This Saturday Tintin got to see his first hockey game. We were given 3 tickets to see the game (thanks Scott!) and so we left Rhys with the grandparents and took Tristan to the game. He has watched hockey with uncle Tyler and gets all excited as he yells out "go hockey!" and "boom" whenever there is a big hit. So when we told him saturday morning we where going to go to a hockey game that was all he could talk about all day. For a 2 year old he did really well sitting through 2 and half hours yelling "go hockey!" and clapping when everyone clapped.

That morning we meet up with the Beckers for a little walk and some time in the park. Unfortunately this ended up being the coldest part of the day and we froze our butts of. But the Tristan and Lyric had lots of fun while Aria and Rhys just slept in their strollers.

Aside from that it has been life as usual with me workign way too many hours. The boys are becoming more and more attached to each other and Tristan even cries when Rhys is taken away for a nap at day care. Lately Naomi has been able to take the boys (with Grandma's help) to the pool. They both love it lots and hopefully it will help Tristan get over his recent fear of the bath, i never thought i would see someone so upset to have a bath.

Now of course our boys like any other kid has way too many toys, but when you go shopping you always just happen across a toy that you really want to buy for them. This time it was a tool box with all sorts of toys tools, i just couldn't resist and gave in. Now Tristan can truly help dad out around the house or destroy eveything in site. I think he is very proud of his tools though as he played with each one and then put them all carefully away when he was finished.

Fall days

Category: Journal

We spent the weekend enjoying the October weather.  It was particularly sunny this weekend, even if it was a little bit cold.  Saturday we went on an adventure to pick out some pumpkins.  I had never been to a pumpkin patch before and it was kinda neat seeing them all over the place.  Tristan was so excited to be there – when we first got to the patch, he was trying to pick up the biggest pumpkins he could find.  We tried to find a Tristan sized pumpkin for him to carry, but he wasn't interested.  When we got home, Troy cut up the pumking and pureed it and Tristan and I made pumkin pie.  What did Rhys do?  Jump in his Jolly Jumper – seems to be what he does most of the time these days.

This afternoon, we went to mission creek park with Troy's parents.  It was cold but sunny and we wanted to take advantage of what could be one of the last weekends we can go to the park this season.  Tristan had a lot of fun taking Cosmo for a walk.

I've been really enjoying my boys lately.  Tristan is so affectionate with Rhys and always very concerned about where he is and how he's doing.  If I put Tristan in the car seat first, he points to Rhys' spot and says "Rhys too?"  Rhys is also getting to the age where he really responds and giggles a lot at Tristan.  The only thing that can make him laugh as much as his brother is the Jolly Jumper!

Happy Birthday Naomi!

Category: Journal

Happy Birthday to my wonderful wife who on the 6th turned 29. Yep that is right one more year before the big 3-oh! We ahve pretty much been celebrating for a few days now with a party at our house sat, a dinner at her parent's on monday and a dinner at my today. MMM lots of food and cake and pie!! I guess i will have to start planning for next year's big party.

Aside from Naomi's birthday we have been attending other birthday parties for kids and well Tristan is still getting presents almost a month after his b-day. He sure is one spoiled kid, i think he know it too.

Other than that lately we have been well more like me has been buried in work but making sure to play with the fam on the weekends, especially with the weather taking a cold turn. We have managed to get out to the local parks lots and let Tristan run around and i have to say that the kettle valley park is pretty cool you can just for yourself just by the picture of the slides.

On another note we have just not been able to fill Rhys up lately so he has started solid food earlier than Tristan did. So far he has taken to it very readily and really enjoys it, but still hasn't figured out how to eat and chew on his fingers at the same time. As always he is being his cute smiley self and loves to watch and giggle as Tristan runs around.
