Category: Journal

Well i finally done it, i have sucessfully grown a great big pumpkin. We picked this big guy a little over a week ago before the weather got too cold and and today got around to taking some pics of it. The pumpkins i planted where only supposed to grow 16 inches in diameter max, but i guess that was wrong this sucker is really heavy. MMMmmm we are sure going to enjoy all the pies this one will make yum!

The Miniature Earth

Category: Journal

I came across this in my surfing and thought it was just brilliant. What would the world look like if you could shrink it down to 100 people. It definitly gives you some food for thought. I thought it was executed very well and is an awesome well designed presentation. So head on over to the The Miniature Earth and take a look.

Back in the swing of things

Category: Journal

It's been a little bit since I've written on here – Troy accused me of not caring about the blog.  Sorry all, I do care, I guess I just care about other things more – you know, stuff like sleep.   Thank you all for your enthusiasm with the caption Fridays – although Craig may have gotten a bit carried away this last week!

Anyhow, this weekend has been a lot of fun with Sheldon, Daralynn and Annika around.  We celebrated Sheldon, mine and Dar's birthdays on Friday night which was a lot of fun. It's great to be able to still get together for family birthdays even when you live far apart.  We all really missed David though as he was the only one from my family not there.  Saturday and Sunday I pretty much hung out with my family all day while Troy did some work in the yard…when we weren't visiting the walk-in-clinic that is!  Yes, Troy is following in his father's footsteps with injuries while doing home renovations.  Loading some timbers into the truck at Home Depot, he got a sliver Cry.  So we had to take him to the clinic.  OK, I made it sound like he was being a baby about it, but really it was pretty bad. After 3 needles of freezing and half an hour of digging, the doctor finally made an incision to get two very large chuncks out of his hand.  One of them was over an inch long.  The moral of the story?  Keep work gloves in your truck.

Hmm, what else has happened lately?  Troy took me for a date for my birthday which was a lot of fun – but I see he's told you all about that already.  Life's getting pretty busy with working full time and a 1 year old – I find myself collapsing in bed shortly after Tristan each night just to keep my eyes open at work.  Work's going really well – I'm enjoying being back and in the work environment, although it is bitter-sweet as being there means being away from little T.  I really enjoy the social aspect of being back though, and it's good to be back in the swing of things there.

B-days and Turkey

Category: Journal

What a crazy past weekend and a bit. We were kept very busy and well fed this last weekend with Naomi's B-day and of course the thanksgiving feeding frenzy. MMMmmmm i can still taste the turkey.

First off i would like to say a very happy b-day to Naomi on her 28th which was saturday. I was able to take her out for dinner and a movie like we used to do all the time on Saturday. It was great to get out and have a date and not worry about the peanut–of course we did end up talking about him. Naomi loved her gift too as it was a promise for another date with tickets to see the "It's a wonderful life" musical here in December.

Then there was Sunday with the big turkey feed and yes we did stuff ourselves too much, but it was oh so good especially the pumpkin pie. This year it was a fairly small dinner with just my parents my grandma's, brother, and Naomi's parents. I didn't manage to get all that many pictures but had to take the cheesy around the table picture, the cleanup and of course Papa with Tristan–hmmm shouldn't they be helping with dishes??

The rest of the week pretty much intailed a lot of yard work and house work. Some of the work started last week with the removal of some dead trees in our backyard and the neighbours. My bro Tyler came on over to lend a hand and my neighbour as well. This weekend Mark came on over to finish up. Fortunatly there was no injuries, but there was some nervous moments on my part when one tree just didn't want to fall in the right direction. But with some clever thinking and a lot of muscle we seem to manage it. Now we have lots of wood to burn and nice shiny windows as i finally got around to cleaning thoose as well. It is amazing how different things can look through clean windows.

There were many other small events but i will spare you all for now.
