Too busy to post

Category: Journal

Wow it has been a long time since the last post. Sorry to keep you all in the dark, having no posts is like having dead air on the radio – yikes.

This past week has been one of crazyness! With so much running around and work b-day parties etc etc. The last 2 nights have been spent just trying to restore all the files on my brother Tim's laptop hard drive. He almost lost all his files when his harddrive melted down. Fortunatly i seem to be getting good at hard drive restorations, not something i think you should have to get good at so BACK UP YOUR FILES!!

Last friday we had all the family (including Mark and Leanna) over for b-day and anniversary celebrations. We had flamming BBQ burgers (never by the burgers on sale at costco) and of course rum drenched black forest cake ( a mack family tradition) yum. It seems that this year i just got super cool presents all around, some wrenches from the in-laws, more Asterix and Oblix for my collection from Mark, and some great DVD's.

Now Naomi has gone off to Edmonton to visit Dara and the clan as of Tuesday and will be back on Wednesday. I am looking forward to some nice quiet time this weekend as i have the house to myself, but i do miss her and the peanut. Hopefully i will be able to get some of the other projects start or completed that i have been meaning to do too.

Ok so this post we are going to do something a little different, as i have been playing with the video feature on my camera. So now we bring to you video of the peanut! I still have to create a system to post the video in the way i would like (similar to youTube). but this will have to do for now. Anyways this is just some video of him giggling and eating and making his motor boat sound on the jolly jumper which he loves soo much. Enjoy!Tongue out

Lots of B-days and Fun!

Category: Journal

Wow what a weekend we did lots and celebrated much, which is good after the stress of "the great computer crash".

Thursday Night for my B-day we met Craig and Gin at Kelly O'briens for some appies and beer, something that we haven't been able to do in awhile. Everybody ended up spoiling me with some great gifts. Love the hat craig! And Naomi bought me the best watch ever! It is like this one except that it has this lid on it like a pocket watch with a cool design on it.

Friday night we managed to leave the peanut with the in-laws and went out on a date to celebrate our 6 year anniversary. Wow crazy that it has been 6 years although i probably said that last year about 5 years lol. We ended up going to milestones for a fairly good meal although we will probably not go there again as it is crazy expensive. Next time i am thinking Indian Cuisine is in order. Afterwards we went and saw Spiderman 3. We loved the film, so good and the first of the big summer movies. Next up Pirates!!

Saturday it was more yard work of course and then off to Craig and Gin's to celebrate Ginny's and my B-day ok well mostly Ginny. It was a lot of fun and the peanut was sure a big hit and seems to really like parties. Although we might have to curb is flirting abilities with the Girls.

Late Sunday we got to finally go a the walk up to the resevouir that they have been talking about for a while. Was a great walk and reminded me once again why i love living here – so beautiful.

As for today i finally got my motorbike on the road, and out for spin, i love my bike some day i will hopefully be able to upgrade it. The rest of the day has been spent working in the yard making things look good and getting the garden going, mmmm freash veggies. Now it is time for a movie and some food.

Computers – it’s a love hate relationship

Category: Journal

And this week it's been mostly hate. Sorry it's been so long since we've done an update, but we have been having some issues.  Turns out our harddrive is toast, and we finally had to make the big change to Windows XP.  Yes, that's right – we were really happy with Windows 2000 so we stuck with it until now.

We had a bit of a scare there for a day or 2 when we thought we may have lost a considerable amount of work on my part and a lot of photos of peanut.  Actually, we hadn't done a backup of our photos since before he was born, so it would have been all our photos of him.  Needless to say we were very stressed out and very angry at ourselves as we of all people should know better than to go that long without backing up.  It was just one of those things that hadn't happened in a while.

Luckily, we were able to get everything off our harddrive before we lost it.  Now things seem to be working much more normally once again, and we're back to loving computers.  After all, they are a huge part of our lives.

So I apologize for not posting earlier than this – I know many of you check our blog frequently, and we do try to keep regular updates for you.  Yesterday was Troy's 30th Birthday, and tomorrow is our 6th wedding anniversary.  We will make sure that we post an update after the long weekend to tell you all about both.  Hope everyone has a great long weekend!

Great short animation

Category: Journal

Ok so i just had to post this when i saw it, and mostly cause it has my name in the title and also because i thought it was really good. Troy Ride is a short animation done for Disney's Shorty McShorts' Shorts project. It is the creation of the National Television gang and animated by Boulder Media. I would love to see this turned into a series.

Sleepovers and Mexican Food

Category: Journal

Well we had a great weekend! Lots of food and lots of visiting. Friday night or rather evenging i guess we spent at my in-laws as my brother-in-law was in town for the weekend. Man does he ever have some great stories from working up north in Ft. Vermilion on the medi-vac. People is strange up there!

Saturday was of course Cinco de Mayo! So we hope that all you out there either had some Tacos, margaritas or whatever Mexican thing you like. We ended up having a little of each and with a little break from the little peanut as he slept over at Grandma & Grandpa's. He seemed to do alright although i did miss having the little guy around and waking up without him there was a little strange. I guess i have grown attached to the little guy, but i know that my parents had some good quality time with him. Unfortunately on the way to pick him up in the morn our car decided to give us trouble yet again.  Just ended up being a little hiccup with the fuel, but it makes us want to find something more reliable. Naomi keeps pushing for a mini van…sighFrown i would rather have a truck.

Sunday we were over at the in-laws again for some waffles and fresh strawberries, to have mothers day a little early as Dave was in town. Now if any of you ever come to visit us we promise waffles are on the list for breakfast with us, they are legendary just ask any of our friends who have had them.

So all in all it was a good weekend, even got to get some more work done in the yard!

As for Tristan, he is sure becoming more and more mobile. He rolls or wiggles to get pretty much where he pleases and love to climb over things and on things. He is just starting to figure out how to get on all fours but we don't have carpet so it is much harder to learn here in our house. If there was carpet i am sure he would be booting it around by now. Then loook out Surprised .

The little Wookie

Category: Art,Journal

Wow that week went by fast!! And it feels like not a whole lot happened or really got done. Oh well. One that is super cool to report is Naomi managed to get some Tragically Hip Tickets for July 10 so i am super stoked for that. I love concerts and i heard the hip put on a good show.

Tristan is sure making all sorts of different sounds. Seems he is experimenting with various sounds, his favourite being a Wookie sound. See he is a Star Wars fan already! So this sound inspired me to digitize this drawing i had in my sketch book.

Ok so he isn't Wookie, but i think Big Foot (Sasquatch) is the next big thing.
