Christmas Day

Category: Journal

Merry Christmas to all!

We had a really good Christmas this year, although it was very busy.  Getting the kitchen done on time added a lot of extra stress, especially on Troy who ended up getting sick through it all.  Watching Tristan get excited over gifts was so much fun – I can see that Christmas is never going to be the same now that we have kid(s).

Christmas Day we went over to Mom and Dad Mack's for stockings and turkey dinner.  The food was fabulous as usual, and we had a great time too.  Tristan really got the hang of opening presents – he had a lot of practice as everyone enjoyed spoiling him!  Here're some pics of the family opening stockings (well, mostly just Tristan). The first pic here is his poser face when he sees the camera come out.

After stockings, Troy's relatives came over for dinner and games.  I kicked some serious butt at Balderdash and Shanghai – it was a lot fun.  It was great for Tristan to hang out with his cousins (well, Troy's cousins actually).  He was so excited and wound up from it all he went the whole day without napping – he didn't even get too cranky considering he had been up til 1030 the night before.  The next morning he slept in until 830 which was a little Christmas treat for mom and dad.

Merry Christmas

Category: Journal

Whew it is finally here and let the celebrations begin! We got our kitchen done just in time… well sort of (more on that later) and now are relaxing with the family. We want to wish you all out there a very Merry Christmas!!! sorry there is no mackhouse e-card this year but we just ran out of time.

With the kitchen done we were able to have everyone one over to our place for out christmas eve gathering of food and opening presents. I have got to tell you it was a blast watching Tristan open his gifts, although i don't think he gets exactly what is going on, and would sometimes just be fine with a box. Anyways we are off to stuff ourselves silly with turkey as the festivities continue…

Christmas Wish

Category: Journal

Ok so christmas is just around the corner and we are all starting to get excite. Especially us with Tristan really being able to have fun with this one this year. But we are all probably thinking about those last minute gifts and while it is a season to give I am sure we all have something we would truly like to get. Be honest you know it is true.

So that being said if money wasn't really that much of an issue (but don't go too crazy error on the side of more reasonable) what would you really like to receive. Let's us know it would be fun to hear.

For me it would be the brand spanking new 12" Wacom Cintiq. A tablet and monitor you can draw on is always cool but this one is just perfectly portable. Drool.

Very Tired & Sore

Category: Journal

Whew that seemed liked a very long weekend. Basically the whole weekend involved working. As we are getting closer the delivery date of our new cabinets (the 14th fingers crossed)I am trying to get even more ready. This weekend it was the removal of the upper cabinets, bulkhead and painting the ceiling. The removal process went fairly smoothly untill I discovered the nice support beam under it which now as we have best figured shouldn't change things a whole ton but will require the installer to get fancy. This however has caused me a bit of stress to say the least and dealing with our sales guy is proving to be difficult (had a good run in with him today). The ceiling was not a lot of fun at all and makes me hope i never have to paint a ceiling ever again — my back and neck would be much better for it. Tonight it was painting the walls all the same colour and more of the same. I am so looking forward to this all being over.

On Saturday night we did get to go and out and see a production put on by Kelowna Actor's Studio of "It a wonderful life", as I had got Naomi some tickets for here B-day back in October. The play was just awesome and so well done. The guy who played Clarence the angel was a brilliant character actor with awesome facial expressions, and the the guy who played George Bailey did a really great job. It was great to just go out on a date and helped get us into the Christmas Spirit a little.

Hmmm not much else for now but I have to leave you with a few pics of the peanut being silly as he eats.

Crazy Winter

Category: Journal

Winter around here has sure been off to a crazy start. First we had really cold for this time of year then tons of snow then really warm and tons of rain which melted the snow. Now we are back to some sort of norm although it was nice to have that fresh blanket of snow. Nothing is better then having snow outside the christmas lights on the woodstove burning and a cup of hot chocolate. That is what winter should be all about.

Now speaking of the woodstove, the peanut just loves to help me get it started and seems to think that is what we should do everytime we are in that room. He is a big help of course thoug, he just loves when i scrunch up the paper then give it too him and he tries to copy what i did. Then he will pass me all the wood in the box wether i need it or not. With the fire started and the wood burning he then guides my hand to close the door as he doesn't like it open when a fire is going. The little guy is just soo cute and i am really glad that he seems to understand that it is hot and dangerous.

Of course making fires isn't the only thing Tristan likes to do. The next big thing it seems is he loves to help clean the floors. Luckily we have 2 swiffers and so i just hand him one while i clean and motors around making car sounds for what is probably close to an hour or so. Now if we can only keep him in this helpful stage things would be much easier as he tends to make a mess faster than you can clean it.

On another note things around here are busy as usual cept Naomi got some sort of nasty bug in her lungs so she has been really sick the last week. She ended up staying home for the last 3 days and basically slept the whole time, but things are looking up now. Amazingly in all this i managed to find a little bit of time to get back to some projects that have been on my list for a while now and i am super excited to reveal them when i am done – should be super cool. The kitchen project is still on going and we finally go the ceiling fixed up so i can finally get back to it. This weekend will be painting the ceiling and starting to tear out the upper cabinets as we are scheduled to get our cabinets in on the 14th. So if all goes well i am taking 2 days off before christmas and should be able to get the flooring done and backsplash in time for Christmas. Yay! Of course i am keeping my fingers crossed.
