Those tempting acorns

Category: Journal

I found this on the web the other day. Thought you would all love to see everyone's favourite squirel up to his lastest antics. Personally I thought this was the best of all the scrat shorts. One thing i am super pumped on is that Blue Sky(the studio responsible for "Robots" and "Ice Age") is now making "Horton Hears a Who" one of my fav Dr. Suess books. Anyways enjoy!

Another week past

Category: Journal

Well the last week has been busy as usual.  It's amazing how busy it can be being home all day with a baby!  Especially one that has as much gas as Tristan.  Poor kid, I feel so sorry for him when he has tummy pain.  It's also hard for me because I feel like I'm hurting him when I nurse him and sometimes he screams.  We've found some formula that doesn't give him gas and are working at giving it to him at night so he falls asleep easier after feedings.  Hopefully his tummy problems start to go away as he gets older – may take a while though.

Our weekend was good – we went to Craig and Ginny's on Friday night.  It was the first time we took Tristan out to someone's house for an evening (other than to my parents).  We had a really good time with them, and Tristan did pretty good too.  Saturday and Sunday we stuck pretty close to home which was nice.  We went for a long walk on Sunday through the new area being built near my parents place.  Pushing the stroller up those hills is the most excercise I've had in months!  It felt good to go out, but I'll have to remember to wear gloves next time – starting to get cold out.

Tonight we went to my parents for our Monday night dinner we always have there.  I was almost embarassed at how much Rhian (one of our hockey students) ate.  It was disgusting – 4 pieces of chicken, a bunch of rice, and then when we all thought there was no way she could eat more, she had 4 muffins for dessert.  She eats more than Dave – and if any of you know my brother, you know that's a lot.

Well, I can't leave this post without putting a couple pictures of our little peanut up!  So those of you who check this for pictures of him, here you go.

No rest this weekend

Category: Journal

No rest for the weary i guess. The weekend is over and we didn't get much rest. The little peanut still has a cold and Naomi had a bit of a flu bug. Yuck.

The most stressfull thing this weekend was the girls. Lots of them in the house and lits of driving and dealing with teenagers. Seemed like everytime i turned around there was another mess to clean up. Gee wiz I am sounding like my parents yikes! We are still trying to find our way with them so hopefully it gets better.

Sunday naomi had yet another shower. This time it was her parents friends shower with gifts. Tirstan sure has a lot of clothes. My favourite is the toque Naomi bought him. Here is the Tristan sprorting some of his clothes sleeping of course!  and one of him with his proud Nana. She could hardly leave him last thursday.

no comments?!?

Category: Journal

Well i just found out the other day that my spam image thingy was not working and no one was able to leave a comment. We were sitting here wondering why all was quiet on the blog. After investigating it seems that the database the spam image was using went down. So i looked around for a new spam image plugin and found one that would allow me to have complete control and run everything from my side. So it shouldn't go down ever now. Thank you  Peter Keung for this very useful plugin.

Well things are still chugging along here. My parents left for Mexico today so it will be nice to enjoy our house to ourselves a little this weekend, of course we still have our Hockey Girls this weekend. Actually it will be the first weekend we have them both for the weekend. So we aren't completely alone.

Tristan got a cold this week which is really rough to see. Colds have got to be really hard when you are soo small. But the little guy is getting not so little as he is just over 9 lbs today, meaning that he has gained double the weight that is average for a baby this old. Crazy. No wonder he crys that kind of growing has got to hurt.

I will leave you all with this collage of pics i put together for our wall. It is a great 3 generations pic. 3 generations of bikers starting with my Grandpa Mack, my Dad and now myself. Will Tristan become a biker as well??

Full of turkey!

Category: Journal

First off, Happy Thanksgiving to everyone. Well i guess to all our Canadian readers out there. To all our international readers out there, Happy Thanksgiving to you all too, cept no turkey and pumpkin pie for you!

This weekend was a full and busy one as usual. It started really well with me joining my Dad and my father in law and some 190 other bikers for the annual turkey run motorbike ride. This was super cool and a lot of fun. I have never been on a big ride with a big group like this before. It was super cool to see so many bikes although mine was probably the smallest and least nice one there, but hopefully some day soon I will be able to get a cooler bike. We all rode down Westside raod here in kelowna which is of course on the westside of the lake and runs to vernon. This piece of road is known actually as one of the best roads to ride in North America and for good reason, especially in the fall. The colors and the terrain are just awesome. From thick trees to burned out forest to rolling grassy hills and all along the lake, just perfect. Unfortunalty this was the morning my camera died, it has been dying a slow death for some time but was probably finally killed when I dropped it. I will see if I can dig up some pictures somewhere for you all. Seeing so many bikes and hearing the roar of them all starting up is just something else. Really makes me wanna go to Sturgis now.

With the camera now being dead I bought a new one. I bought the panasonic DMC-FZ50. So far i am super impressed with the camera. It takes beautiful pictures and with the image stabilization there will be no more blurry pictures. I will let you all know more about it as i play with it more and really get to use all of its features. But, I think the pictures on this site are getting even better. I have already got some real gems.

Sunday was another full day with the dedication of Tristan at my parents church which he was really good for and didn't cry once unlike the other baby being dedicated. Way to go Tristan! Now, if only we can get him to be quieter all the time. hmmmmmm. After church we headed over to visit my Grandpa Mack, and let him see Tristan for the first time. This was very cool. He of course cried and it was all just soo cute. So we managed to get a picture of the 4 generations and all the great grandparents, and wouldn't you know it his first smile on camera (perfect timing!).

After all this we were hungry and it was time to stuff ourselves silly with turkey and stuffing and pumpkin pie. mmmmmm yum! Yep we stuffed ourselves good. It was nice to have the family together, i can't wait to have all the family together sometime. But i am very glad Tristan has at least one uncle and aunt in town. Here is Auntie Heather with the little peanut.

With our bellies full we took in a good walk to burn some calories off, of course just to eat some more pie!! We then topped the evenging off with a visit from Mark, man that was one full day. Unfortunatly we didn't get much sleep as Tristan had decided we didn't need any that night.

Today was a little more relaxing in a way. I helped move my Grandma into here new apartment just down the hall from the old. Mashed and froze a pumpkin for more pies in the future and now am playing with some pictures from the weekend. But now i think it is time for some Turkey sandwiches mmmmmm yum.

I will leave you with one last pic of the peanut. I can't believe how much he has already matured.

At home with Tristan

Category: Journal

Well Tristan is now almost 3 weeks old!  I can barely believe so much time has passed by already.  For some reasons it's been the best 3 weeks of my life, and for some reasons it's been one of the hardest times of my life.  At least now I'm feeling better and am just dealing with being sleep deprived.  It's still a struggle to get my cuddly baby to go to sleep on his own – I'm listening to him necker over the baby monitor right now.  Uh oh, there's the hiccups – he gets them all the time and you can tell it really bothers him.  Poor little man!

This weekend was good – it's so nice when Troy's home with me!  We had a japanese themed dinner on Friday night, and I got a good night sleep as Troy took over the feedings, and it's just really nice to have his company.  After working for the same company for the last 8 months, I miss not being around him all the time.  We went for a nice walk on Sunday downtown and then we went to Tyler and Heather's for a baby shower for Tristan.  I feel overwhelmed by how much we've been blessed!

As for how my little man's doing, he's really good.  I'm working on getting his longest sleeping time in at night instead of the afternoon or evening, and on getting him to fall asleep on his own.  It seems the time it's the hardest for him to fall asleep on his own is at night – his fussy time is around midnight when we're trying to get him to sleep.  But all in all, he's doing pretty darn good for 3 weeks.  Still getting used to the world I guess!
