Baby art pictures

Category: Journal

Tonight we decided to try and be creative with the camera and our new subject. Through him peeing on the blanket and crying we managed to get these 2 shoots not bad. But we will have to keep trying.

Busy Weekend

Category: Journal

Whew!! the weekend has come to an end, and it has been a busy one at that. Of course this came after a busy week at work and keeping bsuy with tristan. I don't think our lives will ever have some normalcy, but then this might be our normal.

I had vowed that this weekend i was going to rest. But then the hunter/gather in me kicked in and i knew i needed to get some wood to burn. Having already a few logs in the carport from a few weekends ago i decided to see if i could get my chainsaw sharpend. Infortunatly all the sharpeners where busy so i just bought a sharpening kit and decided to learn. Must have done an ok job as it cut like butter. So see that the guy i got the logs from still had some trees lying around i grab the dad's and we got some more. Spent the rest of the day till 9 at night cutting and stacking the wood. I finally got it all finished up today after getting the house back in order and clean, and mowing the lawn. Things are really starting to shape up around here.

Seeing as i had worked all weekend i did make the opportunity to play, as my parents took me out surfing. Hopefully that wasn't the last ride of the year. Today was an awesome sunny day, but you can defintly feel the weather turning. Just makes me think of snowboarding which hopefully i will get to do this year.

Naomi and baby are doing really well, although Naomi is still really tired. Little babies can be very demanding and i just don't have the right equipment. It is really cool to see the great love Naomi has for her "little man". She had her first baby shower this weekend(the first of many if i understand correctly). Wow did little tristan ever get showered with a lot of gifts. A big thanks to everyone! There is some cool stuff there, i am almost jealous of Tristan.

Now that i have all this wood we finally got to break in the fireplace. We enjoyed a good fire with my parents on Saturday night. I am looking forward to the winter when we have the fire just roaring. Christmas is going to be great with a fire. Now Santa can come visit us. lol

Well it's time for bed and time to head into the next week. Lots more to do as always. But hey gotta always keep busy.

International Talk Like a Pirate Day!!

Category: Journal

Yep apparently there is such a day. I never knew till today. I guess there is a day for everything. Of course i had to check it out when i got home today and yes there is is even websites dedicated to it and in different languages too! I shouldn't be surprised though as the web has everything. Except when you need to actually find something you need.

With it being International Talk Like a Pirate Day, i ended it up so focused and busy through the day that i didn't partake in any piratey talk. Arrr, maybe next year. Least i walk the plank. arrr! There now that felt better.

Well on top of having a baby this past weekend was the dragon boat festival here in kelowna. So I raced with my team and thought we did pretty well for ourselves. Especially for not being a super serious team (believe me there was some crazy serious teams out there). We came in 3rd place in Bronze division. We gave it our all and wow am I sore still from the weekend. My back muscles are aching. But it was worth it.

Unfortunatly I didn't take to many pictures with my camera on the fritz. But here is one of my team well some of them and one of the pink carnation ceremony for Breast Cancer.

Strong Little Man

Category: Journal

My little man seems extremely strong for his size.  Maybe I'm crazy and it's normal, so those of you who have kids can let me know.  Is it normal for them to be able to hold their head up for up to 15 sec on their own when they're a few days old?  Or to be able to turn from their back to their side by the time they're a week?  I thought that I was crazy and this was just a reflex the first time I saw him do that, but I've now seen it a couple times and my sister's seen it as well.  I guess he builds up a lot of energy from all the nursing and sleeping he does!

Having My Little Man at Home

Category: Journal

I've been trying to write for the past few days, and finally here are a few of my thoughts on my little man.  I call him my little man because I think he looks like Troy will look when he's about 90.  He's got a bit of hair, but it's so blond that he looks like he's bald unless you look closely.  He wrinkles his brow when he's about to burp, and he has his great-grandpa's expressions with his mouth.  The picture on the left is from yesterday, and the one on the right from today.  It's amazing how much he changes from day to day right now!

I had no idea how I would fall in love with my little man.  When the doctor put him in my arms and he was only a few minutes old and I said "Hello Tristan" he put out his little arms and reached for my face.  I was so taken with him right from that moment.  It's amazing how your whole perspective on life can change when there's someone so little who depends on you.  I think God gives us that love for our children to get us through the difficult times.  It's been tough – I won't lie!  Tristan has his nights and days mixed up, and it's hard to only get a couple hours each night.  I am so thankful to my sister for staying with me one night and letting me get some sleep.  Last night Troy stayed up with him when he was fussy after feeding, and for tonight I've been offered help from Troy's mom.  I'm really lucky to have this kind of support.

The other thing that's really hard is nursing.  Sometimes my little man sleeps for hours, and sometimes only for half an hour. It's hard to know what to do.  Because he's so little, I'm not supposed to let him go for too long between feedings, so I'm faced with whether or not to wake him up when he sleeps for a long time.  And sometimes he doesn't even want to eat when he's been out for hours.  He'll just lie there and look at me.  How can I make him suck?  I can't.  And then he'll get the hiccups, and his whole body shakes and he gets mad!  But again, there's nothing I can do about it.

My brother-in-law Sheldon arrived today from Edmonton.  Ever since my sister  Daralynn got here and started spending time with my little man, he's in trouble.  She wants another one pretty bad.  Here's them with their daughter Annika and Tristan.

Troy's on the couch with him right now – he has him in his arms warming him up cause he's a little cold.  It's amazing how I've fallen even deeper in love with Troy now that we have a family of our own.  I love seeing him with Tristan and seeing how much he loves him and how much he loves me.  So far having a baby has been the most difficult yet amazing experience of my life.

Day 2 for Baby

Category: Journal

On the second day of Tristan being in this world he spent the day sleeping. I don’t blame him it was a pretty big ordeal coming into this world. That and now he has to deal with the cold, and consatant cuddling, poking and proding. Something neither one of us really like… well cept for the cuddling. Other than that it has been a good day for both Naomi and Tristan. With Naomi finally being able to get him to feed a little this evenging. He was just to sleepy before this. I did manage to catch a great shot of him while he was sleeping and the lighting just seemed perfect.

Tristan also got to meet one of his Great Grandmothers today. What a  lucky guy to have a great grandmother and 2 to boot!!

I am hoping Naomi comes home tommorow, as I can’t wait to have her back home with the new addition to the family. Our family just keeps growing and growing. Although Tristan is a more permanent addition. But going from a family of 2 to a family of 5 in jsut a few weeks is a little crazy.

I wanna thank you all for your comments and support. It has been awesome to hear from you all. I don’t think i have seen this blog soo busy. Makes it all that much more fun.

The Baby is Here!!!

Category: Journal

Finally we would all like you to meet our little son Tristan Daniel Mack. Weighing in a 6lbs 5oz, with a length of 20" his is one healthy little boy. (click on the images to enlarge)

It all started early this morning with a trip to the hospital at 7 for Naomi to be induced. We got there and waited for a bit before they started her on the drugs to induce her. At about 11am the labour started to kick in and by 12 it was in full swing. Naomi had really big hard contractions that resulted in back labour, being the most intense. The back labour was a cause of the baby being face forward when it should be face back. Naomi was a trooper through it all and did not complaing once about it, nor did she scream or cry out. She just weathered it all. It hurt me to see her in so much pain, but she did so well even when the morphine didn't really help at all, although she really liked the laughing gas, even offering me to try some at one point. Too funny.

Soon it was time for her epidural, not sure what time it was but it was probably around 2 or so. This made a big difference except to her left side where it didn't seem to take. The doctor then wanted her to try and relax and get some rest and wait for the baby to turn which she said would take awhile. But little tristan seemed to be in a hurry and it only took 20min to turn.

No came time for the big push, and boy did she push. Naomi really showed her strength and pushed with everything she had. 40min later the crys of little Tristan could be heard. Naomi just seemed to be a pro at this. I was really proud of her.

Her is a picture if us with the baby 1 min after he was born.

Soon after everyone came to visit. Naomi's parents, my parents, my brother and his wife heather, and even Craig and Gin. Little Tristan already has soon many people that love him.

Yup, still pregnant

Category: Journal

The past few weeks a lot has happened in our lives.  Nope, no baby yet.  But SOON!  We’ll let you all know when it happens.  I’ve been off work last week and this week, but barely noticed as Brenda’s kept me busy with her in the kitchen as she’s helped me can everything from pears to spagetti sauce.  I got loads of baking done as well so if any one of you comes to visit me and the baby I can fatten you up so you look more like me!

As far as what I do look like, Troy and I had some pregnancy pictures done 2 weeks ago – so you can all see the big me!

Our hockey billets arrived here last weekend as well.  Jodi’s 16 and Rhian’s 13.  Both fit into our family really well, and we’ve enjoyed having them here.  We’ll see how it goes when we have the baby – a bit of an adjustment for them as well.  I think everything will be just fine though – and I know they’re both excited about the baby as well.

So here is the last picture of little Mack while still known only as little Mack.  The next time you see pictures of him or her, they’ll be baby pictures and not ultrasound pics!  Hopefully that will be soon as I’m 39 weeks today!

We are moving!!!

Category: Journal

Yes we are moving… but just this site.

If you havn’t noticed yet there hasn’t been any updates since Aug 23rd. Well actually there has been.├âÔÇÜ├é┬á We have been working on the site a lot lately and there has been several updates. However our hosting company in an aparent “upgrade” migrated our site to a new server, but moved everything over from weeks ago and not the most recent version of the site. After this the lost all the backups.

So after much long conversations and very bad customer service, and a long history of trouble with this hosting company we are moving on. We are moving everything over to Yahoo hosting. It is costing us more but we get more. More space, more options, no downtime ever, more speed and waaayyyy better customer service.

So please be patient with us as we make this move. As according to my hosting company now they can’t tranfer my domain as it doesn’t exist. Arggghhhhhhh!!!!!!
