Baby?

Category: Journal

Yes that’s right!  We’re having a baby in September!  We’re getting very excited although it’s also a very scary thing as well.  All the sudden everything is different.  Knowing that I’m not going to be working for the full year, thinking about where we’re going to be living and how it’s all going to work with a baby in the house.  Yup, life as we know it is coming to an end.  The thought that we’re graduating from a couple to a family is really exciting. We’re more excited than ever to get away and go down to Mexico…trips like that are going to be a lot harder when we have a baby in tow.

It’s amazing how different our lives seem, yet it can all be summed up in one short paragraph.  In other news from the mackhouse, Troy’s changed his appearance significantly.  I’ve never been a fan of beards on men, but I gotta say, my man looks good with one!  Especially with his new glasses.  Here’s a pic of the new daddy-to-be and his new look.  I told him he’s not allowed to give the baby beard-burn if he still has it in September!

New Job

Category: Journal

Today was the first day of my new Job! Man did it feel good to go to work. It has been awhile since I have worked a real job after quiting the bank last year. Since then it has all been free lance work which was great but just not steady enough to make any really good money. So today i started working at Naomi’s Company as a Moderator for club penguin. Basically i have to make sure all the little penguins are behaving properly and answer all sorts of e-mails. Not the most exciting job in the world but it pays well and is a good starter job in the company as they want to have me work on design and animation when they get busier which is hopefully sooner than later. So this is all a great start.

The really cool thing about it all is Naomi and i work in the same office. It is really fun to drive to work together and leave work together and hopfelly have lunch with each other from time to time. It makes things really easy as far as with the car and shcedules and everything.

Today was also the last day of House sitting for our friends Craig & Gin. It was alot of fun to live in ther house and have a hot tub, and king size bed for a week. We had to take care of their dog sadie and 2 cats meanos and cassy. Altough after a week we are not to keen on long haired cats. I still have hair in my mouth and all over everthing ugh. I love having a dog around all the time, sadie and i had lots of fun, cept i don’t think she liked it when i was sick as she didn’t get to go for as many walks. Anywho we are now back in our house and hope Craig and Gin had an awesome time in Mexico and don’t rub it in our faces too bad, nice tans and all.

The BIG Trip

Category: Journal

Okay time to officially annouce our plans. Now that everything is all offical (cept for some minor detials), we wanna let you all know what our plans are. We are finally going to leave on our first big trip since we have been married. YAY!!! we will be taking 3 much needed weeks off of work for some rest and relaxation down south. Well not all rest and relaxation. We are going to spend 1 week of the time driving and exploring and 2 weeks staffing mission adventures and building houses with the Home of Hope program in Tijuana.

On March 10th we will start to head on down to So Cal, on our 3 day journey to LA. Once in LA we are going to stay with our friends Debbie & Shane.  We plan on spending a few days there and in San Diego just taking in the sites, and me showing Naomi all the cool stuff down there and hopefully surfing. As a few of you know i spent some time in Tijuana with YWAM in 2000, so it will be great to show Naomi everywhere i was. So after some relaxing in So-Cal we are going to head on down to Tijuana to staff the base there and help build houses.

The homes of hope mission is just awesome.  Basically they find families in great need, usually single mothers or really low income families and build a house for them. Usually the family lives in a cardboard shack or a litttle better but not much. It is a great ministry and something i really believe in and am proud to be a part of. The houses aren’t much compared to what we all live in here but for them it is almost a mansion and it keeps the rain and wind out. What we will be doing down there is much of the same as i had done before, hosting youth groups over the spring break who come down to build houses and showing them how to build them and driving them around TJ. We are soo looking forward to it.

Now we want to offer all of you out there a chance to be a part of what we are doing. While we are down there for the 2 weeks we will be building a house for 2 families. In the past when i was there some people that came down brought some extra money with them to buy clothes, cleaning supplies, furniture and food for their new home. This is where you come in. We would like to do the same thing. So on the side menu i have put a little donation button through paypal where if you like you can donate money to the cause. The more money that is donated the more we can "bless" these 2 families. One thing i want to make clear is that none of the money will go to us in anyway all of it will be for the families.

Now i had a little bit of trouble finding some good pictures of the houses extra as mopst of them on at home and we are house sitting right now so as soon as i get a chance i will upload some from home. till then this is all i have. One thing we are hoping to do as well is keep the blog updated everyday if we can and with pictures. Right now i am hoping to somehow find a laptop that we can take with us that will enable us to do this. So if any of you have any suggestions i am all ears!! Well anyways there it the BIG Trip. We are super excited and can hardly wait.

Kamloops

Category: Journal

What an awesome weekend!  Friday night we had our friends Bonte and Catherine visit with us one more time before heading back to Australia.  We went out to a movie and then for coffee, and had a great evening spending it with wonderful friends.

Saturday, we headed for Kamloops with our friend Craig to see his band (Jam Shack) for the first time.  They opened for the Phoenix and it was a great night.  The music great – both bands were a lot of fun.  The dance floor got fuller and fuller as the night went on and they played a good mix of songs.

Before the gig, we had dinner at Craig’s aunt and uncle’s place – where we spent the night.  Thank you Paul and Cindy for a great evening and letting us stay in your home!

As I mentionned, a great night of music and dancing.  One observation though.  Troy and I were the youngest of the group we were with, and we were the ones who seemed to have the hardest time with a late night.  By the time we got back to Paul and Cindy’s, we nearly collapsed into bed!  Maybe when we reach 30 we’ll be able to party with the rest of them.

Longest Graphic Worm

Category: Journal

When i saw this i just had to link to it. It is the internet’s longest image created as a collaboration between several artists. Currently it is at 55 ft, contains 82 images and is made by 52 separate artists. I am looking forward to seeing how long it becomes. I think i am going to try and add to it as well and become part of the fun.
