Merry Christmas to all

Category: Journal

Well another Christmas has now past.  This year was a hard one with the passing of Troy’s Grandpa, but it ended up better than we expected.

Christmas Eve we kept small – just our immediate families.  We had it at our place after everyone went to their respective churches for Christmas Eve service.  Tons of food and presents…typical Christmas Eve.  Norbert read the Christmas story for us all too.  It was the first Christmas that we celebrated with Heather (my to-be-sister-in-law) which was really nice.  Good to be able to welcome a new member to the family, even as we were mourning the first Christmas without a member of the family.  Troy gave a toast to his Grandpa with some Strawberry wine – Grandpa’s favorite.  It was great for us all to take a moment to think about him that evening, as hard as it was. We are all thankful for the wonderful memories we will always have of him.

Christmas Day was different this year than usual.  We’ve always done a big family day, but this year that didn’t happen.  The day started off with breakfast at my inlaw’s and opening stockings.  We then all went to Cottonwood’s to visit Troy’s other Grandpa.  Then, we were invited to some great friends for dinner and games.  The Wereley’s have been a wonderful support to our family – especially to Troy and myself.  Mark and Troy have been best buds since they were young, and we are treated like another son and daughter-in-law in the Wereley home.  We had a great meal…Troy, Mark, my brother-in-law Tim and myself sat at the "kids table" and had a blast.  Those guys just love to make me giggle.  We stayed at the Wereley’s fairly late playing Balderdash and Cranium.  I had almost forgotten how much I love to play games.

Thank you to everyone who helped make our Christmas a great one even through difficult circumstances.  We are blessed to have such wonderful friends and family.

Grandpa will be missed

Category: Journal

Today is a sad day, as my Grandpa passed away early this morning. It is hard to know what exactly to write here at the moment, especially when it all feels so surreal. In many ways though it is happy moment as we know that he has moved onto a better place and is no longer suffering. The hard part is that we will all miss him so much. The neat thing about it all is that this morning at the time of his death the clouds had broken and the sunrise was absolutly beautiful.  I felt as though it was him saying goodbye with the beautiful sunrise. If any of you know how Kelowna can be this time of year with seemingly endless cloud and grey it is as though the clouds had to break for his soul to escape. It all kinda warmed my heart.

The rest of this morning was interesting as well as we went through some pictures of grandpa.  I should mention that his name is Rudolf Moller for any of thoose of you who havn’t met him. I am going through the pictures of to find some for a slide show for his funeral and it was just so cool to see so many memories and to see what his life was like and what he looked like through the years. I am soo glad the camera has been invented at that we can capture these small moments in our lives. Well now i am just rambeling so i will end this and say… Grandpa I love you so much and i will miss you a lot.

Mack ‘n’ Becker Christmas

Category: Journal

You just gotta love this time of year.  The more closer it gets to chirstmas the merrier and hapopier i get and more excited. I just love this time of year. Looks like we have already started celebrating this christmas. Last night we got to something we have always wanted to do, open gifts and have christmas with our friends.

The night started of with some great food made by Craig and Gin. I gotta say they have made the best ribs i have ever had, they were to die for mmmmmmm yum.  I am still thinking about them today.  These ribs would put any restaurant to shame, and what a great way to start the celebration.  After feeding our faces silly with ribs and salad and apple pie, the girls decided they just couldn’t wait till morning to open our stockings for each other. So well why not.  This was soo much fun, it is always a blast to open stockings and unwrap lots of small gifts. I think the Beckers spoiled us just a little, and so many thoughtful gifts.  I am not sure how long it took us all to open them but it didn’t take long for the girls to get tired and head for bed.  So us boys stayed up and chatted for a while and made sure the hot tub got some use. After such a fun night we have all come to the decision that the Mack ‘n’ Becker Christmas should become an annual tradition.

After all sleeping in a bit, we woke up to the famous Mack breakfast borritos, mmm yum.  Yes yes all we ever seem to do is eat. lol oh well emoticon   Then we had to sadly say good bye and go off to finish some last minute shopping, which we had a lot of fun doing as Naomi and I got to spend the day together.  Now we are just waiting for Naomi’s sister to get home so we can spend some time and maybe play some games or something fun.

Tommorow we will be another fun day as we are celebrating Christmas early with Naomi’s family as her sister is here right now and will be going back to Edmonton on the 23rd. I am looking forward to it.  Lol more food and gifts.  But more importantly time with the family on this important holiday, especially as it is my niece’s first christmas. Merry Christmas Annika!

Us sporting some of our new Gifts!!

Club Penguin

Category: Journal

Alright time to plug the next little link on the side. Especially now that it has reached over a thousand members. If you havn’t tried it yet, it will lead you to the club penguin chat site.

This site is basically a chat site for kids, one of the very few out there. This site is really cool.  It is created by the guys from New Horizons Interative, where Naomi works.  So of course we want to plug it as much as we can so that is can become a huge success. Aside from that it is a really great chat. Like i said before it is made for kids and is a safe place for them to chat with others.  The chat is loaded with fun stuff like dancing penguins that you can use to interact with other users.  There are games and online parties for the users to have lots of fun with amoung other great things.  The chat is free but if you become a member it allows you to customize your penguin with clothes and such. You also get your own igloo that you can decorate with furniture etc. and make it your own.  You can then invite other penguins to your igloo.

So if you check it out you will find it is very fun and a really cool place for kids to hang.  With so much crap on the net, this is great place for kids to be online. I will again say it is a safe place and heavly moderated so that it remains that way.  Now if you have kids see if they will like it or pass this site onto some you know who does have kids.

More Christmas Spirit

Category: Journal

It is beginning to feel like christmas more and more all the time around here. This weekend we had our friends over to decorate the tree. We always love to put up the tree with friends it is always a good time, although it makes us miss Irish. Irish we miss you and christmas is just not the same without you around. Ok so i should clear something up, when i say we decorated the tree i really mean Naomi and Ginny. What a fine job they did, while Craig and i sat back and watched well Craig was sick and me i had no excuse. Oh well. Anyways with the tree up and in the mood to decorate some more, i have put up a few lights on the site. I still think it could use more decorations. What do you think?

Now i would like to talk about something that all of you might not be aware of. The last few months have been a hard few. My Grandpa has cancer and it is at this point he is close to leaving this world. He was diagnosed with cancer close to his liver over a year ago. He has since then been fairly healthy and well till about October, when we was admitted to the hospital. The cancer has grown considerably and is causing him along with other complications to die. He was givin the choice to "pull the plug" last week and has decided it is time. So now is a waiting game. It has been hard to see such and strong and wonderful man slowly wither, and is not easy to talk about, especially for me. I love my grandpa greatly and hope that it won’t be too much more painfull for him. For any of you who know or have met my Grandpa you know how wonderful he is. Always the strong silent type, easy to get along with and always so supportave. The next couple of days will probably be the toughest.

We just ask from all of you for your love, support and prayers in this difficult time.
