Merry Christmas to all

Category: Journal

Well another Christmas has now past.  This year was a hard one with the passing of Troy’s Grandpa, but it ended up better than we expected.

Christmas Eve we kept small – just our immediate families.  We had it at our place after everyone went to their respective churches for Christmas Eve service.  Tons of food and presents…typical Christmas Eve.  Norbert read the Christmas story for us all too.  It was the first Christmas that we celebrated with Heather (my to-be-sister-in-law) which was really nice.  Good to be able to welcome a new member to the family, even as we were mourning the first Christmas without a member of the family.  Troy gave a toast to his Grandpa with some Strawberry wine – Grandpa’s favorite.  It was great for us all to take a moment to think about him that evening, as hard as it was. We are all thankful for the wonderful memories we will always have of him.

Christmas Day was different this year than usual.  We’ve always done a big family day, but this year that didn’t happen.  The day started off with breakfast at my inlaw’s and opening stockings.  We then all went to Cottonwood’s to visit Troy’s other Grandpa.  Then, we were invited to some great friends for dinner and games.  The Wereley’s have been a wonderful support to our family – especially to Troy and myself.  Mark and Troy have been best buds since they were young, and we are treated like another son and daughter-in-law in the Wereley home.  We had a great meal…Troy, Mark, my brother-in-law Tim and myself sat at the "kids table" and had a blast.  Those guys just love to make me giggle.  We stayed at the Wereley’s fairly late playing Balderdash and Cranium.  I had almost forgotten how much I love to play games.

Thank you to everyone who helped make our Christmas a great one even through difficult circumstances.  We are blessed to have such wonderful friends and family.

Grandpa will be missed

Category: Journal

Today is a sad day, as my Grandpa passed away early this morning. It is hard to know what exactly to write here at the moment, especially when it all feels so surreal. In many ways though it is happy moment as we know that he has moved onto a better place and is no longer suffering. The hard part is that we will all miss him so much. The neat thing about it all is that this morning at the time of his death the clouds had broken and the sunrise was absolutly beautiful.  I felt as though it was him saying goodbye with the beautiful sunrise. If any of you know how Kelowna can be this time of year with seemingly endless cloud and grey it is as though the clouds had to break for his soul to escape. It all kinda warmed my heart.

The rest of this morning was interesting as well as we went through some pictures of grandpa.  I should mention that his name is Rudolf Moller for any of thoose of you who havn’t met him. I am going through the pictures of to find some for a slide show for his funeral and it was just so cool to see so many memories and to see what his life was like and what he looked like through the years. I am soo glad the camera has been invented at that we can capture these small moments in our lives. Well now i am just rambeling so i will end this and say… Grandpa I love you so much and i will miss you a lot.

Mack ‘n’ Becker Christmas

Category: Journal

You just gotta love this time of year.  The more closer it gets to chirstmas the merrier and hapopier i get and more excited. I just love this time of year. Looks like we have already started celebrating this christmas. Last night we got to something we have always wanted to do, open gifts and have christmas with our friends.

The night started of with some great food made by Craig and Gin. I gotta say they have made the best ribs i have ever had, they were to die for mmmmmmm yum.  I am still thinking about them today.  These ribs would put any restaurant to shame, and what a great way to start the celebration.  After feeding our faces silly with ribs and salad and apple pie, the girls decided they just couldn’t wait till morning to open our stockings for each other. So well why not.  This was soo much fun, it is always a blast to open stockings and unwrap lots of small gifts. I think the Beckers spoiled us just a little, and so many thoughtful gifts.  I am not sure how long it took us all to open them but it didn’t take long for the girls to get tired and head for bed.  So us boys stayed up and chatted for a while and made sure the hot tub got some use. After such a fun night we have all come to the decision that the Mack ‘n’ Becker Christmas should become an annual tradition.

After all sleeping in a bit, we woke up to the famous Mack breakfast borritos, mmm yum.  Yes yes all we ever seem to do is eat. lol oh well emoticon   Then we had to sadly say good bye and go off to finish some last minute shopping, which we had a lot of fun doing as Naomi and I got to spend the day together.  Now we are just waiting for Naomi’s sister to get home so we can spend some time and maybe play some games or something fun.

Tommorow we will be another fun day as we are celebrating Christmas early with Naomi’s family as her sister is here right now and will be going back to Edmonton on the 23rd. I am looking forward to it.  Lol more food and gifts.  But more importantly time with the family on this important holiday, especially as it is my niece’s first christmas. Merry Christmas Annika!

Us sporting some of our new Gifts!!

Club Penguin

Category: Journal

Alright time to plug the next little link on the side. Especially now that it has reached over a thousand members. If you havn’t tried it yet, it will lead you to the club penguin chat site.

This site is basically a chat site for kids, one of the very few out there. This site is really cool.  It is created by the guys from New Horizons Interative, where Naomi works.  So of course we want to plug it as much as we can so that is can become a huge success. Aside from that it is a really great chat. Like i said before it is made for kids and is a safe place for them to chat with others.  The chat is loaded with fun stuff like dancing penguins that you can use to interact with other users.  There are games and online parties for the users to have lots of fun with amoung other great things.  The chat is free but if you become a member it allows you to customize your penguin with clothes and such. You also get your own igloo that you can decorate with furniture etc. and make it your own.  You can then invite other penguins to your igloo.

So if you check it out you will find it is very fun and a really cool place for kids to hang.  With so much crap on the net, this is great place for kids to be online. I will again say it is a safe place and heavly moderated so that it remains that way.  Now if you have kids see if they will like it or pass this site onto some you know who does have kids.

More Christmas Spirit

Category: Journal

It is beginning to feel like christmas more and more all the time around here. This weekend we had our friends over to decorate the tree. We always love to put up the tree with friends it is always a good time, although it makes us miss Irish. Irish we miss you and christmas is just not the same without you around. Ok so i should clear something up, when i say we decorated the tree i really mean Naomi and Ginny. What a fine job they did, while Craig and i sat back and watched well Craig was sick and me i had no excuse. Oh well. Anyways with the tree up and in the mood to decorate some more, i have put up a few lights on the site. I still think it could use more decorations. What do you think?

Now i would like to talk about something that all of you might not be aware of. The last few months have been a hard few. My Grandpa has cancer and it is at this point he is close to leaving this world. He was diagnosed with cancer close to his liver over a year ago. He has since then been fairly healthy and well till about October, when we was admitted to the hospital. The cancer has grown considerably and is causing him along with other complications to die. He was givin the choice to "pull the plug" last week and has decided it is time. So now is a waiting game. It has been hard to see such and strong and wonderful man slowly wither, and is not easy to talk about, especially for me. I love my grandpa greatly and hope that it won’t be too much more painfull for him. For any of you who know or have met my Grandpa you know how wonderful he is. Always the strong silent type, easy to get along with and always so supportave. The next couple of days will probably be the toughest.

We just ask from all of you for your love, support and prayers in this difficult time.

Chirstmas music

Category: Journal

Wow is it ever cold out there!  We must all be wimps here in Kelowna cause it’s only -1…but it feels like it might as well be -100!

I am officially feeling old – I now have glasses that I have to wear at work.  I was getting pretty sick of the 3 o’clock headache that caffein wasn’t seeming to cure, so I got my eyes checked out.  I guess staring at the computer 8 hours a day isn’t too easy on the eyes.  I now feel like I do fit in at work though as pretty much everyone else there has glasses too.

We’re getting ready for the Christmas season – the shopping’s just about done.  I hate shopping this time of year – too many people around. We’ll be putting up our tree and other decorations this weekend and we started listening to Christmas music today.  I love Christmas, but sometimes the music can get to me.  Can’t someone come up with more Christmas songs so I don’t have to be a humbug? If you have any good songs to recommend that would be awesome – always looking to change it up a bit.

It’s Snowing!!

Category: Journal

"Walking in a winter wonderland" It is snowing outside and today it is most welcome.  Kelowna here was just starting to feel a little gray and depressing.  Now everything is covered in a bright cheery white blanket, and the trees topped with frosting.  Yum.

So with the snow i decided to update the header with snow.  Hope you all enjoy, and remember drive safe.

Vancouver & Back

Category: Journal

Here we are home after a wonderful weekend in the big city, with our friends Craig and Ginny.

It all seemed to go by so quickly, but now we will have some fond memories for awhile. It was great to get away for some fun and relaxation. Vancouver is a fun and beautiful city but have to say the traffic is just crazy, we quickly found this out as we arrived in Van on friday evenging.  Oh well nothing that a little food and drink couldn’t solve once we arrived at our hotel.

Saturday was a real fun day of shopping and getting lost and numerous other adventures.  You should always make sure to get some good directions or a have a good map when finding a place you have never been too.  Once finally finding our destination the GX building, which holds a sort of market for sample products, the girls had a lot of fun shopping for themselves and christmas. After this we headed to the metrotown mall for more shopping and importantly food.  I don’t recommend eating at the thai food restaurant in the food court.  The food was defintly nothing to write home aboutemoticon.  Naomi found a few good clothes and us guys tried not to spend too much money on gadgets. We then headed back to the hotel so the girls could rest from all the shopping.  Craig and I headed to Moxies in the hotel to order up some pizzas and meet a great Bartender named Jerome.  I gotta tell you Jerome is a great bartender and really nice guy, if you ever find yourself there you should go and see him.  Scarfing down the pizza as we got ready for the rest of the night, we headed out to find some fun.  Not finding anything that wasn’t crazy busy we ended up walking back to the hotel, to see Jerome at Moxies, lol.  Oh well at least we had a great walk in the city at night, I always love cities at night.

The next day was basically us heading back home. Luckly we had great roads all weekend and our trip back was uneventfull.  Getting back to kelowna we decided to end the weekend relaxing with a movie at Craig and Ginny’s.  Now it is back to the grind.

Independent America

Category: Art,Journal

Time to put in a plug for one of the links.

Please visit the link to learn all about this wonderful documentary.  It was created by Hanson Hosein and Heather Hughes, two reporters here locally in Kelowna. Now one reason i am plugging this is that i worked on the animations in this film and my brother Tim created the concept art.  The other reason i am plugging this more importantly that it  is a great film and everyone should see it.

The film is basically the search for "Mom & Pop" across America.  What they have done is a road trip across America dealing with only Mom & Pop business.  They lay out the issue of Independent America vs. Corporate Chain store America, in a very balanced look.  The film is wonderful as it will make you think and maybe change your personal consumer habits. It is really entertaining and i think you all will really enjoy it. It you visit the site you will get a better understanding and description of the film.

Here is a small screen shot of some of my work in the film.

So check it out, and either see if you can purchase a copy or catch a screening near you.emoticon

Hello & Welcome!!

Category: Journal

Well finally!!! I have gotten some time to create this site and really make it what we want it too beemoticon. Well almost lol.  For now we have just the blog up and running and well it is something, right? The goal of this site is to keep all of you out there updated and informed on all that is Mack. Hopefully this will be an interesting site to visit often; at least we will try to make it interesting.

In our quest to make this a great place to hang and have fun etc. we are hoping to have some of the following up and running in the next month or so.  First off will be to get our portfolio pages up and running, so you can all see what exactly it is that we do to make and living. Hopefully those pages will also lead to more work for us, especially me! Gotta pay for all this somehow.  The gallery page is basically going to be a photo album so you can see what we look like and where we have been, also included will be some video so you can all see how goofy we really are. Next the Fun & Games page will be my little baby. Here I will be posting games I have made so you can all play and challenge each other.  Also a chat or some form of forum will be created for you all to interact with us a little more.  Finally will be the about us page with contact info, and the interesting details you have all been wanting to know (hmmm what kind of deodorant does Troy use?).

Before I end this post I want to make you all aware of a few more things on this page.  If you will notice to right you will see there is an archive section where you will be able to look at previous posts from us.  There is also a search feature so you can search through all our little journal entries.  Below this is a list of links that will be added, as we link some things of interest and some of our favourite sites. Now the big thing to notice is just below this post is a little button you can click on to view comments to each post or create your own.  I will make a few interface buttons in here as well so it makes it a little easier to make interesting comments.  Right now I have easy to use smiley buttons.  Please feel free to post comments so we can know your thoughts, and keep in touch with you.  You could start right now by posting a comment and saying Hi, or give me some C&C on the site itself and and recommendations you might have.

All right can’t wait to hear from everyone soon. Till then cheers emoticon

:EDIT:

If you are having problems viewing this page, or the above header looks weird make sure you have the lastest version of flash player.  Also everything is best viewed with the Firefox Browser, which is far better than IE, and you will end up with less spyware using it. bonus!!

Get Macromedia Flash Player

Get Firefox!
