Farwell Wisdom… Teeth

Category: Art,Journal

Here i am sitting with a somewhat frozen mouth from having my wisdom teeth pulled today. I finally sent the little guys packing. The procedure ended up not being as bad as i thought it would be. Actually it was a little easier than having a cavity filled, except for the one tooth that just didn't want to come out so they had to break in into pieces.

So now i have a little bit less wisdom, not that i think i had all that much to begin with.

Here was the cartoon that came to my mind while they took my teeth out.

Mutant Virus

Category: Art,Journal

Tonight i got this little guy in my head and couldn't get him out so i had to start drawing him. As you all know i was sick last week and well wouldn't you know it Aaron my co-worker who sits beside me got sick this week as well. So of course he blammed it all on me, so i agreed and told i probably shouldn't have licked his keyboard and mouse(nasty habit of mine).

Anyways this got me thinking about the virus, and with this other character i would like to create (more on that at a later time). The idea popped in my head that a giant virus was being mutated and genetically altered in a lab then shrunk down to the proper size and unleashed on unwilling victims (aren't all victims unwilling?). Anyways this viruses would then multiply and brainwash and alter the victim creating perfect evil henchmen. Muuuwahahaha. uh ahem.

Mutant Virus

Anyways enjoy this little guy all inked up for now as it is late and i will have to get to the colors at a later time. Aaron this one is for you!

Busy January

Category: Art,Journal

It's amazing how the holidays can be just over and already we're back to running around like chickens with our heads cut off.  Well, maybe I'm exaggerating a little.  This week has been especially crazy for me as Troy's been sick so I've been picking up his slack.  Shows me just how much he does around here and how busy his days are driving the girls etc.  Tristan also had his shots yesterday and a doctor's appointment today, so I've been running errands with that.

Tristan's needles didn't go so well yesterday.  Actually the needles went fine, it was the band-aids that didn't go over so well with Tristan.  He screamed as was expected during the needles, but when he was still screaming 10 min later and couldn't even calm down enough to nurse, the nurses came out quite concerned.  The one nurse told me she's never heard a baby cry so hard and so long from getting the shots.  We looked at his legs, and they were bright red and starting to get swollen.  It was concentrated around the band-aids, so we took them off.  Poor little man had big welts almost exactly under each band-aid.  Seems he's allergic to the glue or something with them.  Once the band-aids were off we put cold compresses on his legs and within about an hour and a half they were back to normal and he was his calm self again.  Hopefully this is something he outgrows, but certainly not the end of the world if he doesn't.  I guess he's just got really sensitive skin.

Even though I'm a bit late for talking about Christmas, there's a few things that should be mentioned.  First of all, it was wonderful to spend time with Daralynn, Sheldon and Annika on my side of the family, and also with Tim from Troy's side.  Tristan's been very lucky to have spent so much time with his one and only cousin (even if she is a soother bully) in his short life.  He's actually seen her every month since he's been born – pretty good for living as far apart as they do!  It was, however, his first time meeting his Uncle Tim.  Tristan and Tim got along great – it was really neat to see how natural Tim is with babies.  I had no idea.

We were very blessed over Christmas with really thoughtful gifts.  I really felt that everyone went to the effort this year to really think about what each person wanted or needed.  Troy painted me this beautiful painting for above our bed.  It will always be special as it represents where we're at in our family right now.  The symbol in the bottom right corner means love, and that's really what the painting means – how much we love each other and Tristan.

My family back together

Category: Art,Journal

Yay! my small family is all back in town. I missed both Naomi and Tristan so very much. The little guy grew a lot in the week and a half they were gone and is a little more chubbier. He is still cute as ever and smiles a lot more now. He doesn't seem to smile as much for me. I think he has forgotten who i am. But he seems to like to talk to me.

I got the last of my Christmas lights up on the house. There isn't to much this year as i blew the budget on LED lights, but in the end it will be worth it. I think the house looks pretty cool though and next it year is should be even better.

Tonight we were over at the inlaws for dinner and my mother in law was talking about a little thing she had to make for her class at school. The theme being "Santa in Action" Rhian recommended that she do a Super Santa. So after much hinting i put this together for her. So i will post i here for all of you to enjoy and to help get the festive season rolling.

2 Weekends

Category: Art,Journal

Ok so 2 weekends go by an no update on the Blog. What is up with that i am sure you all are asking. Well i just have no answer for you. Are we busy? yes always! Are we Lazy? hmmm maybe just a little. Is there nothing new and interesting? Nope, there is always something new and interesting. At least to us.

Happy Canada day to all of you out there!!! Yes it is a week late but better now than never. And we gotta say we love living in Canada. Although we wouldn't mind living somewhere else nice and warm and tropical. Hmmm pineapple, palm trees, and surf….. Ahem ok maybe we are proud to be Canadian and want to live somewhere else. But after the last 2 weekends it would be hard to move away. Kelowna can be like paradise sometimes. Minus the palm trees of course, but then that is what we have the banana tree for.

The canada day weekend was a great weekend though. With lots of time on the water and in the sun. I got to go wake boarding, barefooting and surfing. I love to surf and can hardy wait till i get to do the real thing on the ocean sometime. (for thoose of you who know me this is a life long dream) For now i will have to make due with being behind a boat.

For Canada we headed out to a big house party my friend Craig was playing at to raise money for Diabetes. His band "Jam Shack" put on a great show as always. They are getting better and better each time they play a new gig. Here is the band with Mike on the left, Chris in the middle and Kevin K on the right, and of course Craig on the Drums (aka HOS).

The rest of the weekend we spend down at the in-laws dock and on woods lake with my parents. Just floating and playing in the water. Even got to go Cliff jumping which was a lot of fun to do again.

We will just skip by the rest of the week, as nothing super interesting happend there, well at least work wise as everything is Top Secret there. But for this last weekend all we did was play again. Starting with celebrating Craig's B-day with night on the town. Of Course the girls got tired and went home early, leaving Craig and I and his cousing lexy to get in trouble. Ended up being a really fun night, with my highlight being when i gave Craig his B-day gift. I had made him a shirt with a custom design of this.

He was super pumped. Still hasn't stop talking about it to this day. It's awesome when someone likes your work. Well after a great night out the girls were fast asleep so we didn bother to wake them. So i just crashed the night at Craig and Gin's and we all woke up to make waffles on the patio in the morning. MMMM yum!! Then it was off for another day at the lake on the dock ending with smokies cooke over a campfire. Sigh life is rough. But then it doesn't end there. As it was off to Gin's parents the next day for a day at the pool. Where we were served by Gin's dad at his very cool Tiki Bar. A little taste of the island in the backyard. After a day of more sun it was off to see Pirates of the Caribean. Which i gotta say was awesome film. I personally like it more than the first one. And now can't wait for the 3rd one. If you were thinking of going to it. I say you should definitly go!!
Well that was one crazy long weekend of play, so now it is back to work for the week. We have lots to do now but the weekend of resting and playing was worth it. For now i will leave you all with this picture of Naomi by the pool.

Sun, Heat & Bananas

Category: Art,Journal

Wow!! now it is smoking hot outside, and our house is cooking!! But i love it and would much rather be hot than cold any day.

All this heat now means that we can now enjoy the lake and all that, that intails. Like this weekend where on Sunday we had our friends Craig & Gin over for sunday morn waffles with fresh strawberrys picked the day before. MMMM and they were probably the best strawberries i have ever had. We found a new place to pick and i think we will be going back. It is just too bad they are finished for the year emoticon. We with full bellys headed down to Naomi's parents dock to lay in the sun and swim in the lake. Well except for Craig how went to work to catch up. What a Bum!! Oh well at least he made it back for the evenging smokies on the fire. Yum! what a great day!! Here are the girls showing off their pregnant bellies and new bathing suits. Not bad for maternity suits!

Oh yes for thoose of you who don't know i guess it is now in the open. Craig & Gin are expecting tooo!!! They will be having a little rug rat around Christmas. we are super excited and now it looks like little mack has a friend already!! The only sad news is that Ginny was in an accident as well(don't worry she is ok). So she is pretty sore as well. The girls sure do make a pair! We are thinking that they have some sort of weird competition going on.

Naomi seems to be getting bigger and bigger every day. Little mack is growing up already! But i have to say Naomi is looking really good pregnant! Here judge for yourself

Well we are still busy around the house picking away at things here and there. Except it is really hard to get motivated to do any yard work and the such when it is this hot. We did plant a Banana Tree in the garden and i am super stoked that i have a palm tree in the yard. YAY! This tree won't get any bananas but that is ok. It is still super cool. So hopefully i don't kill it.

Aside from all this play and work and everything i just got this sites backend all updated. So all of you out there should enjoy the page loading a little faster. Mostly all the changes are in the things you can't see but makes my life a little easier. This should also allow me to add some more cool things, once i finish editing some more files.

Well that is pretty much it for this post tonight as i should go to bed. But for some reason i am just loving skulls and flames lately so i just had to draw a cartoon style of both here it is for you to enjoy. emoticon

Our Comic Selves

Category: Art,Journal

Yay!! it is finally getting nice a warm here in kelowna making us very happy. We are looking forward to spending time on the water and everything else summer related. Also i am feeling much better and am very glad to have that flu out of the way.

Things are busy as usual in the Mackhouse. With work and still lots of things to do around the house. I have started some yard work and planting some plants to spruce up the place. Also working on getting the lawn into better shape as it looks so pathetic. Basically nobody took care of it for the last few years. I have added some fertilizer to it and giving it nive long drinks of water and wow is it ever starting to grow. So hopefully it won't take to long to grow back nice, then little mack will have a nice yard to run around in.

In the evengings i have started to work on a comic strip i would like to create. Basically it will help me to work on my lacking drawing skills and help to keep this website a little more interesting. Here are some the concepts so far. I am basing it on us just turning us into characters and using the funny things that happen to us. Well hopefully they are funny. So far i both of us designed in 2 different styles. Here is me:

It is more of a classical comic design but i think it works well. But just didn't seem to stand out. So i thought of doing a more Retro style and pop culture looking one so here is Naomi in the style:

I like it better and it is more marketable but still not exactly what i am looking for. Let me know what you guys think.
